What a privilege to play at such an auspicious event, I am 15 and felt very humbled to be part of this. I only launched my music career last October. I made sure that I worked very hard on my set list and getting the songs and act right for this. I was lucky to be asked to support Carroll & Billsbourough and The Bad Cowboys on the Thursday before where I was able to run thru the set live. I could have waited to audition in a few months time but I felt I needed to cut my teeth and just go for it. I had lots of support from friends and family. I was quite relieved to have school over with on Saturday and spend the rest of the day getting prepared to go. We arrived met the other bands King Eider from Edinburgh, Craig & Alex Priddice from Street & Kevin & the Destroyers from Wells. All were really nice great to chat to. Doug was the sound engineer whom I have worked with before that helped me relax a bit. I had discovered that I was the opening act to the event, no pressure then..... My friend Phil Tucker turned up he's doing some 360 video for me, this is very exciting and he was there to record a few songs, I will post the video when it's done, very cool.
People started to arrive I changed and met Michael Eavis, I have met him before but this was different I was playing my songs to him and the judges. WOW what an amazing experience, I was nervous but excited all at once. Friends arrived & parents of friends, Andy Riley opened the show by introducing me to the stage..... Was not ready for that....... Ok lets go do it! And so after a quick tune of the strings & time check, I breathed and began. As I sung I looked out to the crowd, I could see tapping feet & nodding heads. Michael in the front smiling, I seem to have a lot of failed relationships, be aware I'm 15 these are short but still meaningful. For now I write about what I know and perceive. My songs were well received and a few wolf whistles too boot! Suddenly it was all over, great applause and Michael was stood in front of me chatting away, he knew I had not been playing long and liked my performance and thought I was confident considering the length of time I'd been playing and writing. I came off the stage to a wealth of compliments which was amazing. I look forward to going back to play at the Pilton Working Mens Club, with any luck get through to the Pilton Party & I hope Glastonbury too....
What a start to the year!
My and Duncan's interview on GFM 107.1FM was #2 for the year on the Thursday Show! (we only did it in October!)
Well it's been very busy for me. I have been writing new material and noodling about with the loop pedal at last, complicated but enjoying the results. I saved enough for a Standard Tele Fender, now that is a fun guitar, working on new licks with that.
NEWS so excited I have an audition for the Pilton Party, as you have probably noticed as it's plastered all over my site & social media on Saturday 30th January. As a prelude to this I was offered support act at the King Arthur on Thursday 28th January I'll be on first at around 7pm. I am trying to catch up with posting sounds and videos but with school it's a lot to do.
Awaiting the mix of my track to get it mastered it will finally be available on iTunes.
Breaking News I'm involved in a compilation CD due out 15th February more to follow on that one.
The picture is of me at the last open mic at The Sheppey Inn being interviewed by Pulse 104.4FM
Young chap finding his feet, likes the finer things but on a lemonade budget, for now!
